Anime in the Park (AITP) is more than just an outdoor anime convention. While it wears the structure of one, the true spirit of Anime in the Park is Peace, Love, Unity and Respect (PLUR). Just as cosplayers wear cosplay on the outside and remain themselves deep inside, Anime in the Park expresses itself through the vehicle of an anime convention, but the roots are something else.
AITP is an extension of NetsuCon, the annual indoor anime convention that started it all in 2023. NetsuCon is the hot burning engine that gave flight to Anime in the Park. It's where many of our principles and organizational stuctures stem from. Anime in the Park actually became the larger entity, but NetsuCon is the heart of our events.
We are structured under NetsuCon Events, LLC with a DBA for Anime in the Park. The legal business name is what we use to cover insurance requirements and pay for all the various structures that are required to run events.
Our mission statement aims to summarize what we do and why do it.
Currently it is:
To uplift and unite communities, break down stereotypes, and promote physical and mental health through art, music, and cosplay at public parks.
AITP is based on a set of core principles:
These principles rest on top of the original NetsuCon principles:
Everything we do is guided by these 15 principles. Every decision we make as an orginization is dependent on these values.
